This is the story about a girl and a horse finding a foal
with the help of their three friends named Gemma, Rainy and Claire.
It was a warm evening in September and Jessie and her horse
Goldie were watching the sun go down.
Suddenly, her bird Gamal,
dropped a message. It was written
in bird language. Jessie knew how
to read bird language and she read it out loud. “Go on a mission to find Goldie’s foal”. So they went in and asked their Mom if
they could have a snack. She said
yes. They asked her if they could
go away for a few days. She said
yes. They packed up four peanut butter
sandwiches, four water bottles and lot’s of trail mix. They packed up a whole bag of carrots
for the horses. Then they called
their friends on the phone to tell them to meet them on the third rocky
mountain.
When everyone was gathered together, Jessie said, “We have
to find a place to camp soon. It’s
getting dark”. They split up and
Gemma was the first to say she found the perfect hiding spot. It was in a cave on one of the rocky
mountains. They checked it and
realized it was an old bear cave but the bear had moved on because it was too
small for him. They unloaded their
stuff and made a fence using scrap wood they found which was in circle pieces
and some wire that Rainy had packed.
Suddenly, they heard a rattling sound coming from a bush. They quickly made a fire to see what it
was. Using the light, they saw it
was a rattlesnake. Nobody knew
what to do but Claire. “Everybody
get back”, she said, “I know what to do!
I’ll tame it”. She quickly
got her flute out of the pile of stuff they had unpacked and she played her
favourite song that was called, Rattlesnake Taming. The rattlesnake slithered away into the bush and went into
its little cave and curled up and fell asleep. The girls ate some of the trail mix, a bite of their
sandwich, and some berries that they found on a bush outside the cave. They curled up on a soft grass nest
that the bear had made and fell asleep.
The next day they climbed the last mountain and saw a
beautiful land. They climbed down
into the valley and Rainy said, “Shouldn’t we find some water.” They went to a nearby stream and there
drinking was Goldie’s foal. Jessie
knew right away because Goldie ran to the stream and the little foal began to
jump excitedly. They nudged each
others noses. “We found her! Hurray!”, Gemma said. “Now we can go home.” Instead of climbing up the mountain
again, the foal showed them an old plane that was big enough for all of
them. They jumped in and nobody
knew how to fly the plane except for Jessie. So Jessie piloted the plane home. Now she had her own plane too!. The three friends friends split up to their own homes and
they all lived happily ever after.
